Starr Ambrose | Branded!
February 22, 2013

I live in a rural area of southeast Michigan, on a small farm with horses, chickens, cats, and dogs. I’m lucky enough to be a full-time writer, and with my two daughters grown I don’t have to worry about school schedules and activities. I write whenever I want to, which often means late at night. You’ve gotta love a job you can do in your jammies with a bowl of popcorn beside you! I write romance novels because I love to read them! For years I dismissed them as junk-food literature (shows how stupid I was – who doesn’t like junk food?) until I finally paid attention and discovered the truth – romance novels are about strong, passionate women who are smart and resourceful. Best of all, they often have that most important survival toolβ€”a wicked sense of humor. Those were the heroines worth writing about! My path to success was a bit unusual – my publisher found my entry in a contest and offered to buy the book. That was LIE TO ME, from Simon & Schuster’s Pocket Books. For other aspiring authors out there, I urge you to join RWA – Romance Writers of America – both the national organization and a local chapter if there is one near you. I can think of no better way to learn the business of writing.
