Carol Efron

Carol Efron is a writer and a physician. Her novel, A Hidden Fate, will be published in October 2026 by She Writes Press.

Efron was the clinical director of the Huntington’s clinic at Johns Hopkins when genetic testing for this fatal genetic disease was first offered in the United States. Not everybody at risk for incurable illnesses wants to know their fate.

Efron’s novel stems from her experiences at Hopkins in the late 1980’s, and from decades of practicing psychiatry in the SFO Bay Area. Carol enjoys hiking, cloud watching, and gardening. She and her husband live in Silicon Valley with their feral cat, near their two grown children and three young granddaughters.
