Instead of trying to find your perfect match in a dating app, we bring you the “Author-Reader Match” where we introduce you to authors you may fall in love with. It’s our great pleasure to present Tessa Bickers!
Writes:
Modern romance (often with many nods towards my favorite thing ever – 90’s rom coms) where the heart of the story is more about the journey each imperfect character goes on to heal themselves, with love fuelling the way. Normally featuring: troubled pasts, warped family dynamics, grief, loneliness, deep connections, chemistry and a quest for greater joy, all wrapped up with a happy-ever-after bow. If I haven’t made you laugh and cry in my books, I haven’t done my job.
About:
As an author I’m the USA TODAY bestseller of THE BOOK SWAP and my second novel, THE NIGHT BUS, is published in May 2026. As a human I love to sing while having absolutely zero sense of rhythm and a total inability to dance. I LOVE love and will cry at almost any romance I watch or read. If you tell me the story of how you fell hard for someone you will get to watch goosebumps spread across my whole body live and in real time. Things I love include: Taylor Swift, New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, self-help books, deep and meaningful chats, sea views, long walks, babies I can give back (and the one 8 year old I get to keep), reality TV shows involving dating, drama and ideally loads of tears, Julia Roberts, silly spontaneous dates, female friendship.
For both THE BOOK SWAP and THE NIGHT BUS you will need:
• A fascination in human beings and what makes them tick
• A thing for emotional and creative men who just get you, even when you don’t get yourself.
• A desire to pick up a book that will make you laugh and cry.
• A lack of judgement for people who start off in a bad place and improve just a little bit by the end. Isn’t that what we’re all trying to do?
• A feeling of satisfaction from heartbreak, hope, warmth and humour in one novel.
What to expect if we’re compatible:
If we’re compatible, you’ll find a total safe space where you feel seen and heard for who you are and the things you’re juggling in life. Think of my books as the person you can go to for advice on what to do next or for an even worse story if you feel like you’ve fucked up a bit. There’s no judgement and no perfection, just an understanding that we are all human and we all make mistakes but that’s only one aspect of who we are and we get to be loved for everything about ourselves, even the bits we don’t like as much. I’d like to think if the pages of my book could give you a hug when you need one and little kick when you get stuck, they would. Only lightly though, they LOVE love after all.
Narrator: Naomi Frederick

One book. Two strangers. An unforgettable journey as they rewrite the ending.
?
Daisy Douglas has spent her life behind the scenes: at work, in her relationships, and now, in planning a wedding she isn?t sure she even wants. As an entertainment journalist, she can spot the start of a story a mile away. So when her routine 4 a.m. bus ride to the newsroom takes a surprising turn, she notices.
For months, the same man has boarded at the same stop, reading the same tattered copy of Virginia Woolf?s?Orlando?over and over as if his life depends on it. When a broken-down bus and a shared walk through the quiet early-morning London streets finally throws them together, Tom reveals the heartbreaking truth as to why he can?t be without his novel.
?
Determined to help him find the answer to the riddle hidden in its pages, Daisy joins Tom on his strange literary quest?one that leads them to places neither of them ever expected. But as their friendship deepens, she starts to wonder if what they?re both looking for might not be in the book after all.
