What is the title of your latest release?
SECRETS IN THE SAND, Book 2 in the Turtle Island Mysteries series

How did you decide where your book was going to take place?
Picture Tabby Island, GA. I love it there. It is the perfect setting for cozy mysteries.

Would you hang out with your heroine in real life?
I would most certainly hang out with Grace. She is the friend that would charge in to back you up and ask questions later. Don’t let her polished exterior fool you. She will kick those heels to the curb in a heartbeat and isn’t afraid of a “little dirt”.

What are three words that describe your hero?
Intelligent. Loyal. Nosy.

What’s something you learned while writing this book?
The characters have a way of directing the story. Where the story landed wasn’t always according to the outline. That’s part of what makes writing so unexpected. A writer experiences a rollercoaster of emotions – highs and lows – that make you both giddy and sick to your stomach at the same time. Grace’s stories are no different. I learned I am loving the cozy mystery environment just as much as the contemporary romance.

Do you edit as you draft or wait until you are totally done?
I edit in phases. It depends on the progress and flow of my story. Sometimes the story comes together quickly, and I can’t stop. I have to get it down on paper. Other times, it flows in phases. I found with the cozy mysteries, I was reviewing in segments for cohesiveness of the story.

What’s your favorite foodie indulgence?
I love a Panera Bread Orange Scone. It is absolutely my weakness.

Describe your writing space/office!
My office is my comfort zone. My desk faces the windows. Some of my favorite items surround me – my BTS collection (I am a K-pop fan), photos of my family (my husband of 26 years, my four grown children and four grandchildren), George, my writing gnome sits on my desk and Oliver, my black miniature schnauzer sits beside me on his fluffy warm pillow while I write.

Who is an author you admire?
There are so many. I am going to show my age, but when I was a teenager, I fell in love with Harlequin Romances. Charlotte Lamb was one of my favorite authors. Later on, Nora Roberts cemented my love of romance novels and has always been an author I admire. I have been to her bookstore multiple times and stayed in her Boonsboro Inn for my anniversary.

Is there a book that changed your life?
Jane Austen’s PRIDE AND PREJUDICE had a significant impact. I love historical romance. I have read all her books. Her bravery to write the truth of romance and marriage in her time was nothing short of heroic.

Tell us about when you got “the call.” (when you found out your book was going to be published). Or, for indie authors, when you decided to self-publish.
I made the decision to self-publish in 2013 when my mother became gravely ill. It was an awakening to stop waiting for the “right” moment. Just this year I made the leap to cozy mysteries. I have always loved a good whodunit and wanted to give it a go.

What’s your favorite genre to read?
Romance and Cozy Mystery. I am a hopeless romantic.

What’s your favorite movie?
Pride and Prejudice

What is your favorite season?
Fall. Colorful foliage. Football. Cool, crisp mornings. Apple Cider. I LOVE it.

How do you like to celebrate your birthday?
Beach trip to the Outer Banks. Long walks and naps.

What’s a recent tv show/movie/book/podcast you highly recommend?
MaryAnn Jordan’s JUNE’S FIRST MURDER. She’s also a romance writer who released her first cozy mystery based on her mother’s life as a librarian. It pulls you to the last page!

What’s your favorite type of cuisine?
Italian anything…except for chicken intestine. I almost ordered that by mistake in Rome. Thank God the waitress questioned my choice.

What do you do when you have free time?
Free time? What is that? LOL Family is very important to me. Any free time we have is spent with the grandkids.

What can readers expect from you next?
Turtle Island Book 3 is coming August 18th and a new contemporary romance July 21st!

SECRETS IN THE SAND by Savanna Grey

Turtle Island Mysteries #2

Some secrets don't stay buried.

Secrets in the Sand

The morning should have been perfect.

A quiet sunrise. A new beginning. A construction project that was supposed to change everything.

Instead, it uncovers bones.

When human remains are discovered beneath the dunes on Danny Whitaker’s job site, Grace Appleton is drawn into a mystery the island has buried for over forty years. The victim is Margaret Parker—a woman who vanished without a trace, along with her family’s land.

But the deeper Grace digs, the more unsettling the truth becomes.

Forged deeds. Stolen property. Quiet deals made by powerful families who built their lives on secrets hidden beneath the sand.

Then a second body is found.

And suddenly, this isn’t just the past.

It’s murder.

With her salon buzzing with gossip—and her sharp-tongued parakeet repeating clues no one realizes they’ve spoken—Grace follows a trail that leads straight into the island’s most trusted institutions.

But someone is still protecting the truth.

And they’re willing to do anything to keep it buried.

In Secrets in the Sand, the second installment of the Turtle Island Mystery series, Grace must uncover what the island tried to forget… before the truth disappears again.

About Savanna Grey

Savanna Grey

Fueled by hot tea and an overactive imagination, Savanna Grey writes heartwarming contemporary romance and cozy mysteries set in small towns where everyone knows your name… and your secrets.

Her stories are filled with big love, second chances, unexpected twists, and the quiet magic found on front porches, in corner cafés, and along tree-lined streets. If there’s a hidden past, a long-lost letter, or a mystery waiting to be unraveled, she’s already halfway to the reveal.

When she’s not creating fictional friends (who insist on talking at inconvenient hours), she can be found sipping tea, plotting happy endings, and being supervised by Oliver, her opinionated miniature schnauzer.

Because in her world, love is brave, community is everything, and even the smallest towns hold the biggest stories.
