Chapter by chapter foray into a journey of recapturing a life that had been nearly discarded by events that shook some characters to their bones. Each chapter brings you along this journey into rediscovery and reconnection. In short, pure delight and pure RaeAnne Thayne.
Fans of this amazing and prolific author are going to love THE RAINY DAY BOOKSHOP. The simple construction of this book keeps each character’s story evolving day to day. We are introduced to a wonderful family with some very industrious characters. Mother Rosie, Grandmother Sylvia, granddaughter Emma, and great- granddaughter Olive are the central characters. THE RAINY DAY BOOKSHOP basically revolves around them, and of course, a wondrous bookstore.
Something earthshaking had happened many years ago that had basically brought this group of women to their knees. With the sudden death of Rosie’s husband, their lives were shattered and seemed unfortunately scarred. Rosie couldn’t seem to find her bearings. Emma shut down and became somewhat distant. Their hurt was bone- chilling and disruptive. Now, many years later, they have rejoined in their mutual responsibility for Sylvia.
Being back home meant a lot to Emma, who was happy to have her mother and grandmother back in her daughter Olive’s life. Reluctant to actually open up to anyone about what her life had become. Rosie was now in charge of the construction firm that she and her husband had created. Both Emma, Rosie and Rosie Sylvia realized the prominent place that the bookshop held in their lives. It seemed to be the heart of this family.
During the course of the revitalization of the bookshop, Rosie and Emma were forced to face what had torn them apart. Bit by bit, chapter by chapter, RaeAnne Thayne takes us on a trip down memory lane, not always sunshine and flowers by any means.
THE RAINY DAY BOOKSHOP is just the latest contribution to family-based humor and drama brought to us by RaeAnne Thayne. In my mind, one of the best certainly brings you to an ending filled with hope.
Life is full of plot twists...Sandwiched between caring for her mother and rebuilding the relationship with her estranged daughter, Emma, Rosie Lucas’s life is full. In the best way. Not only is he an arrogant and reclusive writer, but he’s a single dad with two young kids. She’s already been there, done that. Still as an irresistible flirtation builds between them, he becomes her unexpected confidante on the distance Rosie can’t seem to overcome with Emma, a secret she can’t quite unravel…Emma isn’t proud of her past. But she’s pulled herself up by the bootstraps, caring for her own daughter, and protecting her mom at all costs. Just as she always has. She never told Rosie what she saw all those years ago and she never will. But some secrets refuse to stay buried, and sometimes the truth is more shocking than fiction. Rosie and Emma will have to navigate an unimaginable path forward. Together.Don't miss these other great reads from RaeAnne Thayne:
