Suspects abound, including fellow musicians, a foodie podcaster, owners of a catering empire, past romantic interests, and old friends. Clare is on top of her game as she navigates solving the mystery, managing her daughter’s feelings, dealing with her ex-husband's shenanigans, protecting her new love life, and running a successful coffeehouse. There’s a lot of New York atmosphere, from the glittering rooftops and specialty bakeries to the dark alleys and a historic recording studio. Good, solid writing propels the mystery, interesting characters sustain it, and a long-ago tragedy reveals the hidden clues.
